When: Mon., Sept. 26, 9:30 p.m. 2011

If you're one of the many who has lamented the loss of "weird" in Wilco's most recent albums, here's a chance for you to indulge your more outbound tendencies before the band's Tuesday show at Raleigh Amphitheater. Nate Murphy works as a drum technician for Wilco's Glenn Kotche, and on days off, he likes to take his modular synthesizer duo, Loft, into whatever art space will welcome him and collaborator Travis Thatcher. Their long-form tonal explorations squelch and circle, creating vast expanses that suggest Conrad Schnitzler in his salad days. The 9:30 p.m. show is free. —Grayson Currin
