Line, Touch, Trace

When: Aug. 30-March 8 2015

Sometimes drawing gets short shrift, being viewed as a stage in an artist's process rather than as an artistic end. Going against this notion, the N.C. Museum of Art collaborates with Greensboro's Greenhill art center and gallery on this exhibition of 30 works in pencil, ink, crayon and charcoal by 13 North Carolina artists. The show explores all facets of mark-making in works by Selena Beaudry, Tamie Beldue, Lori Esposito, John Gall, John Hill Jr., Fritz Janschka, Kenn Kotara, Kreh Mellick, Matthew Micca, Ippy Patterson, Isaac Payne, Jason Watson and new N.C. Arts Council Fellowship-winner Kiki Farish. The exhibit, which runs through March 8, is presented in conjunction with a fiber art show at Greenhill that runs through early November. Saturday is the public opening of Line, Touch, Trace; meet the artists in a reception on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. —Chris Vitiello
