Laurelyn Dossett

When: Wed., July 1, 7 p.m. 2015

The résumé of Greensboro’s Laurelyn Dossett, a singer-songwriter and co-founder of Polecat Creek, checks off nearly all the boxes of a successful roots-music North Carolina artist: Merlefest regular, North Carolina Symphony commission and tour, North Carolina Arts Council songwriting fellowship, title track on a Carolina Chocolate Drops record. Her story extends beyond state lines, however, in frequent A Prairie Home Companion performances and a track on the late Levon Helm’s Grammy-winning record, Dirt Farmer—the song “Anna Lee” was originally written for the Triad Stage’s 2006 roots music version of Beowulf, Brother Wolf. —Karlie Justus Marlowe
