Last Vegas is a purported comedy that will have you leaving feeling worse than when you arrived, whether it be because of the cynical screenplay that was just recited or the fact that the film boils down to a commercial for Las Vegas aimed toward the AARP crowd. The film focuses on Billy (Michael Douglas), a lifelong bachelor who has finally decided to take the plunge into marriage and proposes to his 32-year-old girlfriend. Upon hearing the news, plans are quickly made for his three life-long best friends (Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline) to meet him in Vegas for one last bachelor party. Anyone who walks out of this film thinking, "It was just The Hangover for baby boomers," isn't giving The Hangover its due; say what you will about Todd Phillips' comedic sensibilities, but at least he showed the seedier side of the city in that film. Here director Jon Turteltaub and his cast seem content to enjoy a paid vacation whilebasing the entire film around the thought of, "Since you're going to die pretty soon, shouldn't you drop your life savings on a hand of blackjack first?
