Langhorne Slim & the Law, Ha Ha Tonka

When: Tue., June 12, 9 p.m. 2012

Langhorne Slim's recent release, The Way We Move, proves the rowdy raconteur and road warrior has learned a lot along the way from Pennsylvania to Portland, Ore. Move finds Slim polishing his rough edges with pop sensibilities, both when turning raw energy into euphoric sing-alongs and when easing off the gas on aching, sharply arranged ballads. Bloodshot Records four-piece Ha Ha Tonka, named after a state park in its Missouri home, dresses the sage poetry of Brian Roberts' lyrics in a boot-stomping brand of arena-sized heartland rock 'n' roll. —Spencer Griffith
