Kathleen Madigan | Carolina Theatre | Stage | Indy Week

Kathleen Madigan

When: Sat., Nov. 22, 8 p.m. 2014

CAROLINA THEATRE, DURHAM—The rare comedian who doesn't make her sex life a main topic of discussion, Kathleen Madigan is a woman of the people. Much like her longtime buddy and recurring tour mate Lewis Black, she plays to average-Joe audiences by not talking down to them. Hell, she's just as fed up as they are with how ass-backwards this country can be—so we might as well laugh about it together. If her recent Netflix special, Madigan Again, is any indication of the standup she's doing lately, expect her to get guffaws riffing on her Catholic, blue-collar, St. Louis upbringing (she takes ticklish delight in talking about her proudly out-of-step parents) and offering hilarious horror stories from her USO tours in the Middle East. 8 p.m. $27–$70, 309 W. Morgan St., 919-560-3030, www.carolinatheatre.org. —Craig D. Lindsey

Price: $27-$70
