Justin Townes Earle, Dave Wilson

When: Mon., Dec. 9, 8 p.m. 2013

"I'm not fooling no one, I am my father's son," Justin Townes Earle sings on "Mama's Eyes." That troubled relationship rears its head again on "Am I That Lonely Tonight," in which Earle admits, "Sometimes I wish that he'd just call." Justin found his rootsy style in the same Americana vein as his father, Steve Earle, but they reside in different neighborhoods. If dad is gruff and prickly, the kid is smoother, wistful and not yet as hard-bitten. Still, both possess unerring to-the-bone honesty. There's a laconic '50s rock and Memphis soul vibe in the air of Justin's tender, aching 2012 album, Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now, and it suits him well. Chatham County Line's Dave Wilson opens. —Chris Parker
