James Maxey and Jay Posey on J.R.R. Tolkien

When: Thu., March 5, 7 p.m. 2015

JAMES MAXEY AND JAY POSEY ON J.R.R. TOLKIEN THURSDAY, MARCH 5, RALEIGH

CAMERON VILLAGE LIBRARY—Wake County Public Libraries begins a new discussion series this month, "Let's Talk Sci-Fi and Fantasy," where pairs of local experts discuss genre legends. This week, Hillsborough's James Maxey, an award-winning sci-fi author, and Cary's Jay Posey, of video game studio Red Storm Entertainment, talk about the lord of The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien. Appreciate his process; debate what the movies got wrong; complain that some of his characters' names were a little too similar (seriously: Sauron and Saruman?). Future discussions take on Ray Bradbury (East Library, March 8), Anne McCaffrey (West Library, March 12), Edgar Allen Poe (North Library, March 16) and Ursula K. Le Guin (Southeast Library, March 28). 7 p.m., free, 1930 Clark Ave., Raleigh, 919-856-6710, www.wakegov.com/libraries. —Zack Smith
