Jacuzzi Boys, Brainbows, Pinche Gringo

When: Tue., March 29, 9 p.m. 2011

Sometimes Florida seems to export two things: citrus fruit and metal bands. Miami trio Jacuzzi Boys have more in common with oranges or grapefruit than Torche or Iced Earth. The sun-drenched garage pop is the sort of sound that should logically flourish in the tropical state, and there's enough of an Iggy and the Stooges-covering-The Troggs sneer to separate this band from the uninspired tide of "beach rock" bands so popular right now. They sing about beaches, girls and crocodiles on songs that play like the B-sides to some forgotten 7-inch single. With Brainbows' pissed-off basement punk and the irresistible stomp of Pinche Gringo's one-man garage blues. —Corbie Hill
