Irata, Goodbye Titat, The Unholy Tongues

When: Tue., April 13, 9 p.m. 2010

Delay pedals and grand, sweeping crescendos are the name of the game for this Wilmington, N.C., post-rock trio. And while they're no strangers to riding a riff through peaks and valleys of volume until it wears itself out, the Tongues intrigue when they adopt a flatland approach, cruising straight ahead with a disco beat and staccato guitar notes that whiz by like wayward fireflies—think U2's The Edge rounding the corners of a Kraftwerk beat. Greensboro's Irata and Raleigh's Goodbye, Titan add more metallic heft to their own instrumental adventures. Bring earplugs and five bucks at 9 p.m. —Bryan Reed
