At twenty-nine farms for $25 (or roughly 86 cents a farm, if you will)--the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association's Ninth Annual Piedmont Farm Tour appears to be the cheapest ticket per acre available. This year, the tour--1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 1-2--includes open houses, barns, greenhouses and fields in five counties. The kickoff party is Thursday, April 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Carrboro's Weaver Street Market with live music, food, and a meet and greet with local farmers. Next door at the Carrboro Century Center the Stewards of the Land Documentary Project will screen Standing at the Crossroads, a film exploring the history and struggles of three North Carolina farm families.
