Painter-graphic artist Ron Liberti needs no introduction to Triangle residents: His instantly recognizable musical event posters have already been featured in one gallery showing. Liberti's latest work (see "Frank Heath," pictured) incorporates painting, collage, and screenprinting on glass (a technique he started back in college--his enthusiasm for the medium waned after his drunk art prof accidentally staggered into one of his works, shattering it). "It's a logical progression from paper," Liberti says, adding that he uses the backside of the glass to give the works a layered effect. The show also celebrates Liberti's 10-year anniversary as a Triangle resident (a New Jersey native, he studied art both in the Northeast and in England before moving to Chapel Hill/Carrboro). The works will be framed by Bart Moyers, who'll also be showing some of his photographs and wood works. The opening reception, featuring a performance by local duo Work Clothes (Lee Waters and Jenny Scheitler) takes place Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Bronwyn Merritt Gallery in Carrboro.
