It wasn't until his music career took off that Dwight Yoakam started acting. Trenton, N.J.'s Moot Davis (whose familial roots stretch to West Virginia) was an actor first, traveling in productions of Our Town and The Glass Menagerie. These days, the 29-year-old Davis is based in Nashville and thinking more Tennessee Ernie Ford than Tennessee Williams. His self-titled debut is a vintage-country gem. And the reason for the Yoakam reference: Pete Anderson, longtime Dwight sideman and producer, plays hot guitar in Davis' Cool Deal. The Pour House, Tuesday, Sept. 28, doors 7 p.m. $5 advance, $7 day of show. 821-1120.
