Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill and Sugar Hill Records are winding up a six-city tour of song, stories and spirits at The Pour House in Raleigh to celebrate the publication of Best of the South: From the Second Decade of New Stories from the South. The collection features an accompanying CD from Sugar Hill Records; featured musician Scott Miller will perform. Readers include authors Lee Smith, Pam Durban, Jill McCorkle and Thomas McNeely. It's free, but you have to be over 21. One attendee will win $200 worth of music and books. The Friday, Oct. 14 show starts at 7 p.m. Call 828-1588 for more info.
