The Carrboro ArtsCenter proceeds into uncharted territory this Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Slam It, North Carolina's first audience participation slam for playwrights. Anyone can submit 2 3-minute scripts ahead of time--16 regional writers already have--and Saturday's audience will tenderly vote on which ones make it into additional rounds. Folks with scripts can either bring their own readers or pick up a few on the fly from the regional community of actors who've been invited to crash the proceedings. Last we heard, there was room for a few more writers ready to try their stuff out in front of a live audience. The winning act takes home cash: a portion of the door for the evening. Interested? Call organizer Lynden Harris at 732-9299. $5 (but actors reading for playwrights get in free).
