In shonuff funky

A superfreak of the highest order, North Carolina native son George Clinton is synonymous with funk, as his junior high outfit-turned-musical landscape landmark Parliament evolved into a hard-hitting funk force to be reckoned with years after inception. Clinton launched Funkadelic at the same time, drawing heavily from the '70s psychedelic and acid culture that allowed people "to go almost anywhere they wanted to go." Together, the two bands would shift the soundscape of rock, funk and R&B forever. In the past 20 years, Clinton has continued as a workhorse, producing a Red Hot Chili Peppers album, scoring and starring in several films. Cat's Cradle, Thursday, Sept. 23, show starts at 9 p.m. $35.
