A group show of sculptures from about 25 different regional, national and international artists, including indoor pieces and outdoor pieces, will be up in Chapel Hill's Steinway Gallery through the end of January (Rob Lorenson's "Stars and Stripes" is pictured). The Sculpture Spectacular comprises over 100 different pieces of sculpture, using all media--including marble, bronze, wood, metal and stainless steel--and representing both figurative and abstract work. Gallery owner Bill Steinway says that the gallery hopes to continue showing sculpture year-round from now on. "We wanted to make a big splash with this show and announce to the community that we're doing this," he says. "As far as I know, we're the only commercial space in the Triangle that has this capability." The gallery has lawn and patio space so that it can show outdoor sculptures in addition to the indoor works. Many Triangle artists will be represented, including Mark Elliott, Ruffin Hobbes, Jim Lee and Eric Nabatoff. The show runs from Friday, Dec. 14 through Jan. 31. There will be an opening reception Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. Call 942-8780 for details.
