In musical theater

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (pictured) is a theatrical experience, a musical presentation put together by Paul O'Neill--the sort of composer who uses the term "rock opera" with no irony whatsoever. Along with collaborators Robert Kinkel and Jon Oliva, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra crosses race, gender, age and musical backgrounds, bringing together musicians and vocalists for a performance that's a cross-pollenization of classical, Broadway, rock, R&B and gospel styles. See them this Sunday, Dec. 30, 8 p.m. at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Call 543-4000 for details. --Angie Carlson
