In light shows

Celebrate spring and the return of the light at 7 p.m. on May 5, when Carolina Theatre hosts LUMA: Theatre of Light. LUMA blends kite-work, trapeze artists, and jugglers with new lighting technologies for a stunning, two-hour, three-dimensional show. The art form's creator, a juggler/magician/producer-director/author named Marlin, first conceived of the idea of a light show when he witnessed a group of fascinated spectators at a lava flow in Hawaii. For 10 years, he has played on this fascination with shows that incorporate physics, astronomy and physical performance disciplines. Tickets for LUMA are $24 and $17.
