As noted on Ari Davidow's informative klezmer Web page (www.klezmershack.com), Emma Goldman once declared, "If your revolution doesn't include klezmer, I don't want it." Perhaps then, despite the apparent lack of klezmer garage bands, we shouldn't be surprised that one of the three acts at an upcoming benefit concert at the Chapel Hill Kehillah on Mason Farm Road is a group of high school kids named the Midrasha Klezmer Band. Joining them are two outfits with a few more shows under their belts, the Magnolia Klezmer Band, which blends Eastern European melodies with American Dixieland and swing, and South of Delancey, both of which are featured prominently on the CD Dixie Diaspora: New Jewish Music from North Carolina. The concert is on Sunday, Jan. 25, and a $10 donation gets you food and music. Doors open at 12:30 and the music starts at 1:30.
