Christian rockers Jars of Clay headline the Carolina Hope Festival, an event to raise money and awareness of the AIDS crisis in Nairobi, Kenya. The Chuck Davis African American Dance Ensemble, Thad Cockrell, SpencerAcuff and others are also performing, and the day includes visual artists, ethnic and regional food, and children's activities. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Nairobi-based Beacon of Hope, a community-centered group offering support to women and orphaned children and prevention/management of HIV/AIDS. The daylong event starts at noon on Saturday, April 16 at Durham's American Tobacco Amphitheater. For more information, call 1-800-965-9324 or visit www.carolinahope.org.
