It may come as a surprise to many that Aaron Neville is 64, but consider what he has done in six decades: His early straight soul recordings produced by Allen Toussaint are largely unheralded classics, and his career with The Neville Brothers earns him the distinction of being a New Orleans and national treasure. Even Neville's role as a guy who helped corrode the country music color barrier (because, frankly, it's still standing) by just singing is largely ignored. His beloved city is in trouble, and Neville has been touring to raise spirits and funds for it. He has paired with the nonprofit Carolina Theatre to hold this benefit for Habitat for Humanity's "Operation Home Delivery," which benefits low-income families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $39.
