To celebrate Women's History Month, local contemporary folk-rock artists Sarah Pinsker and Lis Harvey have formed Will Folk for Food, a musical benefit co-sponsored by women-owned companies Erlendahle Records and SpinEpiphany Design. The project is a pro-DIY, touring co-op of young, feminist musicians who are going the non-commercial route: You won't find corporate banners on their stages or Top 40 radio jocks introducing their concerts. Part of the proceeds from each show goes to a local battered women's shelter--in this case, Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC). Attendees can also aid the DCRC by bringing nonperishable food and baby care items, clothing (sweatshirts and sweatpants), household supplies and unused personal hygiene items. The event takes place this Saturday, March 9, at Carrboro's ArtsCenter. Call 929-2787 for details. -Angie Carlson
