In four short years, the Ms. Films fest has grown from being a one-day, one-off celebration of films by and for women to being a four-day event with a wide-ranging slate of panels and screenings. Now getting something of a national reputation with its commitment to encouraging and nurturing filmmaking by women, this year's festival will kick off with an opening night party Thursday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. at the Durham Arts Council, with music by Wigg Report. The festival itself begins in earnest with screenings Friday and Saturday nights and full days of workshops Saturday and Sunday. All-access passes are available for $15, but tickets to single events are available as well. For tickets and information: www.msfilms.org or 560-2787.
