In drag

Forget Miss North Carolina. If that's hard to do given the amount of press the recent Revels/Clymer snafu has gotten, we'll make it easy for you: Check out The Independent's Second Annual Queen of the Triangle drag pageant. See our contestants beat the sequined pants off any of those Miss America types with finesse and class--and lots of duct tape. And in the end, reigning Queen Jezebell (pictured) will crown the most congenial, most talented, most world-peace-loving queen (or king--ladies can do drag, too) in the Triangle--and her runner-up, just in case the queen cannot fulfill her duties and keep those nudie photos under wraps. Prepare to see the prettiest, um, girls in the area this Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the pageantry begins at 8:30. Call 286-1972 for details.
