Comedy group Broken Lizard (pictured) has left Los Angeles in their aging tour bus on a cross-country trek to visit 23 universities across the United States, and one of their stops will be at Chapel Hill's Varsity theater--provided the bus makes it. (When the same bus was used for a recent Stevie Nicks tour, we hear, pantyhose provided the only cure for a broken fan belt.) The troupe will be promoting the film Super Troopers, the story of five over-enthusiastic but under-stimulated Vermont state troopers who are trying to avoid being shut down by the state government. The film was written by and stars the five members of Broken Lizard, and features a cameo by everyone's favorite Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter. Pepper them with questions Wednesday, Jan. 23, when they do a Q&A after a 7 p.m. screening of their film at the Varsity. Call 967-8665 for details.

Meanwhile, comedian Bruce Bruce, host of BET's 10th anniversary Comic View, will be dropping into Raleigh's Charlie Goodnights this week. Bruce (may we call you Bruce?) was recently seen on screen alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem in the comedy film The Wash, and he was also featured in Outkast's new video for "So Fresh, So Clean." See him at Charlie Goodnights Jan. 24-27. Call 828-5233 for details.
