In comedy classes

Well, you read about it here, now experience it for yourself: Rog Bates' Comedy Course begins another six-week run in May at Raleigh's Charlie Goodnight's, for anyone who wants a career in standup, or just wants to be a whole lot funny. Students learn to find material, write and edit effectively, use a mike, develop a stage persona, handle hecklers, improvise, get work from clubs, and write and sell material to professionals. The comedy course is taught by Rog Bates, a local singer, songwriter, musician and comedian, who has done standup for 15 years. Bates has also been conducting comedy seminars for comedians, corporate executives and sales professionals since 1994, and he's written a highly successful book, How to be Funnier. Sign up by May 7 to get the benefit of his expertise. Call 363-0999 for details.
