In Christian comedy

Can I get a witness? Smitty and J.B. down at Bully's Basement on Broad Street in Durham have put together one of the most unique standup comedy shows in the Triangle, with their Christian Comedy Show! "I work with an older crowd that doesn't like all the foul language of most comedians, and they asked me if I could put together a clean show," Smitty told the Indy. Smitty says that a lot of people who go to church in the morning go out to eat later, but they have nothing to do in the dead time in between. Now they do. This Sunday will be the first time Bully's has hosted a Christian comedy show, but if it's successful, Smitty says he'll bring in bigger names in the future. This time 'round, he's bringing in Durham-based comedian Anthony Spencer, Raleigh-based Jack McDaniels, Winston-Salem's D.T., and Mrs. Cannon (aka Lil Bit). Soda pop and water will be served, along with Barbara's famous chicken--a Bully's tradition. Tickets are $10 at the door, but if you go down to Bully's now, pick up a flyer, and bring it to the show, Smitty will cut you a deal. Praise the Lord and Hallelujah!
