In Carrboration

Some of the Triangle's best acts will be playing in one relatively small town for free at the Carrboro Music Festival. The stages are everywhere: Cat's Cradle, The Speakeasy, Armadillo Grill, Open Eye Cafe, RBC Centura Bank, Temple Ball, The Wine Market and a half-dozen other spots. The tastes are everywhere, too: there's the catchy fempowerment rock of The Pink Slips, the Byrds-esque twang of Brown Mountain Lights, the prog prowess of Land of Chocolate and the off-kilter hip hop fun of Pro-L. Of course, if none of that sounds exciting, there should be something from the remaining 137 bands to grab a smile. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1 p.m.-midnight.
