Leslie Smith and Bruce Burnside's In Search of the World: A Traveller's Almanac is a curious volume. Thin enough to travel with, it's an international anthology about the philosophy of travel, whose excerpts from the observations of Rimbaud, Henry David Thoreau, William Lithgow and Flora Tristan are interspersed with the evanescent poems of Rumi, Su Tung-p'o and Pablo Neruda. This Thursday at 8 p.m. their publishing company, IvoryBell, will celebrate its publication with the performance of Spanish and Turkish shadow puppet plays at the Skylight Exchange in Chapel Hill. Copies of the book will be on sale. For more information, call Internationalist Books at 942-1740. --Byron Woods
