Randall Robinson will be dropping into the Triangle area to read from his new book, The Reckoning: What Blacks Owe to Each Other (pictured). In his book, the author of The Debt: What America Owes to Blacks, discusses the role that many prominent African Americans have played in the crime and poverty pervading much of urban America. The Reckoning grew out of Robinson's work with gang members, ex-convicts and others scarred by social pathologies. Here, the author calls on black Americans to come together in the battle to free the residents of urban America from the effects of economic blight. Robinson is the founder of TransAfrica, an organization that has tried to influence U.S. policies toward international black leadership. His reading takes place at the New Hope Commons Barnes & Noble in Durham, Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. It includes a discussion, Q&A and book signing. Call 419-8290 for details.
