In artshrines

deborah dorland bradley, who's preparing to graduate with a degree in studio art from UNC-Chapel Hill, moved into her honor's thesis-- Passion of the Mother Artshrine --last week. She's planning to live there for the full 10-day run of her show at the John & June Alcott Gallery at Hanes Art Center in Chapel Hill.

The shrine, constructed inside the gallery, (and home to the artist since April 2) features a copper dome, cedar walls and includes paintings, etchings, serigraphic prints, Catawba vines and a special three-foot book that unfolds like a flower in eight different ways. These are among the works honoring Mary, Miriam, Eve and other universal mother archetypes.
