Raleigh photographer Joseph Diab will be having his "virgin" exhibition, South by Southwest, at Gallery A in Raleigh through Jan. 16. Diab, who began taking photographs three years ago when his dad gave him his old Nikon FG camera, has concentrated so far, he says, on "simple images mostly inspired by place--particularly those things that have struck me about living in the South and the Southwest" ("Adobe Doorway, Sante Fe," is pictured above). His photographs are studies in color and simplicity, showing objects in their natural settings, like architecture from the Southwest and landscapes from the South. Meet the artist and get a first glimpse of his gorgeous Cibachrome prints at the opening reception Friday, Dec. 7, from 5:30-7 p.m. Call 546-9011 for details.
