Ian Hunter, Wreckless Eric, Amy Rigby

When: Tue., Nov. 4, 8 p.m. 2014

Before achieving fame as the perennially shade-wearing leader of Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter labored in factories and as a journalist and professional songwriter. When David Bowie offered “Suffragette City” as a potential single to revive his band’s fortunes in 1972, Hunter rejected it, spurring the creation of the timeless classic “All the Young Dudes.” Hunter’s instincts have always been sharp. From chugging boogie rock to poignant balladry, he’s a canny performer with a broad range of moods and emotions. Seeing this exponent of glam rock on a smallish stage in 2014 is a rare treat. —David Klein
