I Was Totally Destroying It, Ben Davis & the Jett$, Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun

When: Thu., April 1, 9 p.m. 2010

I Was Totally Destroying It, the current champ of Triangle pop-rock, studs spunky ditties with mega-sized hooks and soaring co-ed vocals, though the Durham quintet has been revealing a dark, moody reserve with increasing frequency. Former Milemarker drummer Ben Davis ventured off for his solo career long ago, but he now fronts an all-star incarnation of his backing four-piece, The Jett$. Swerving post-punk that's all angles and jitters, guitars slash and squiggle over throbbing low-end and lock step drums. Atlanta's Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun opens with slinky dance beats laced with guitar carnage. Hand over $5 for the 9 p.m. show. —Spencer Griffith
