Huey Lewis & the News

When: Sun., July 24, 7 p.m. 2011

It's hardly an '80s playlist without the heart and soul of Huey Lewis, but don't go counting the 61-year-old blues rocker out just yet; Lewis and the News are back on the road touring behind Soulsville, their 2010 release of favorites from the catalog of the venerable Memphis label Stax Records. Featuring covers of songs by Solomon Burke, the Staple Singers, Betty Harris, Joe Tex and more, the album is the band's first in eight years. It's also probably their first record to shed the sickly smack of doo-wop pop that led them to define "The Power of Love," exclaim "I Want a New Drug" and ponder the perils of love in "If This Is It." —Ashley Melzer
