Hot Skillet Lickers, Corey Hunt

When: Fri., Dec. 30, 9 p.m. 2011

They're country boys touched in that very special AC/DC way. Sure, the Hot Skillet Lickers (not to be confused with Lavay Smith's jump-jazz backing band) don't raise the same hell as their Aussie brethren. They like their music slow and a little greasy, but the attitude and smirky sense of humor is similar ("I Wish I Was Your Thong," "Whoop Your Ass"). Lest you be confused about their allegiances, they crank out a stomping Muscle Shoals soul NASCAR ode, "Dale Earnhardt," that disparages Rusty Wallace and Jeff Gordon along the way. It's over-the-top but still sassy good fun. The 9 p.m. gig costs $5; visit —Chris Parker

Price: $5
