Hitchcock Weekend

When: May 22-25 2014

If there were a Mount Rushmore for film directors, Alfred Hitchcock's visage would certainly be carved in granite. See why at this weekend-long mini-festival of his films, full of chills, dark humor, sexual anxiety and influential directing techniques. Watch The Birds attacking Tippi Hedren or James Stewart's hobbled photographer spying on his neighbors in the nearly perfect Rear Window. There's also the winking comedy of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, played by Robert Montgomery and Carole Lombard, and the woozy head-trip of Vertigo (Stewart with Kim Novak). Suspense abounds in North by Northwest (starring Cary Grant), Stage Fright (Marlene Dietrich!) and Dial M for Murder. 7 p.m. Thurs.–Sat.; 9:30 p.m. Thurs.–Fri.; 2 p.m. Sat.–Sun., —Curt Fields
