Thomas Beaman Jr., Associate Professor of Anthropology, Wake Technical Community College Fort Caswell is a reminder of the strategic importance of the Cape Fear River and the port of Wilmington. Constructed between 1826 and 1837, it was occupied during the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and both world wars. Beaman will focus on recent archaeological attention towards the Civil War and World War I. Bring your lunch; beverages provided.
