Hicks Stone

When: Fri., March 16, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Triangle audiences will have two opportunities to hear the story of a legendary architect who literally helped shaped the look of the Triangle when Hicks Stone presents two talks based on his book Edward Durell Stone: A Son's Untold Story of a Legendary Architect. The senior Stone founded the firm Edward Durell Stone Jr. & Associates, which in turn designed the likes of (deep breath) the North Carolina Legislative Building, the original N.C. Museum of Art building and the Mary Duke Biddle Music Building at Duke. The younger Stone will give a free talk on his book Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Quail Ridge Books & Music, and on Saturday he'll speak at 11 a.m. at the NCMA's East Building ($23 members, $28 nonmembers; early registration required). It'll be interesting to see what he thinks of the museum's recent addition. —Zack Smith
