Herbfest | Page-Walker Arts & History Center | Get Outside | Indy Week

Get Outside

When: Sat., May 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 2012

Basil on the balcony, parsley on the porch, and, if you've got the space, rosemary, thyme, lavender, cilantro and big-gun herbs to round out your garden. The third annual Herbfest will show you how to start your own herb garden, as well as how to cook herbs and use them in arts and crafts or for medicinal purposes. Saturday's free program runs 9 a.m.–3 p.m., with a folk concert by the Charles Pettee Duo at 2 p.m. and a "Meet the Animals" event from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. presented by the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. A kickoff reception Friday at 7 p.m. with renowned herbalists Joe and Terry Graedon of "The People's Pharmacy" costs $35. —Christina Cass
