Henson Alternative: Stuffed & Unstrung

When: Fri., April 20, 8 p.m. 2012

My love of all things Jim Henson is vast and pure, but let us not think that the man who brought us the Muppets was all sunshine and Fraggles. Was the name of the very first Muppet Show not "Sex and Violence?" Was his work not present in the early episodes of Saturday Night Live? Were not those Skeksis in The Dark Crystal the scariest goddamn things of all time?

View "the other side of the family" in Stuffed and Unstrung, which features six Henson puppeteers and 80 puppets doing rude, crude and adult songs and sketches based on audience suggestions. Just remember, the puppets can't be that offensive—most of them don't even have bottom halves. By the way, did you know you can do a Build-A-Bear-type thing to make your own Muppet at FAO Schwarz in New York? Seriously, it's awesome, and you can order one from their website. I named mine "Gerald." Anyway, tickets to the 8 p.m. show run $39–49. —Zack Smith

Price: $39-49
