Henry V | Common Ground Theatre | Stage | Indy Week

Henry V

When: July 22-25 2010

Bare Theatre's Rogue Company spotlights performers aged 14–21, so Shakespeare's Henry V is an appropriate choice—it's all about what happens when a young man is thrust into a position of power. The subject is also suited to modern times: The most famous film versions, by Laurence Olivier and Kenneth Branagh, respectively, interpret it as a glorified call to arms in battle and a brutally realistic anti-war story. And its use of the Muse to simulate the massive historical backdrops is a perfect fit for Bare's minimalist take on Shakespearean drama. Find out for yourself at the production, which runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students and military. —Zack Smith
