What is Habitus? The answer was made more rather than less opaque by (in)Habitus, the preview staged at Manbites Dog Theater in January to raise funds for this technologically integrated dance work. Vector (dancer/choreographer Leah Wilks and video artist Jon Haas, with other local dancers associated with DIDA) spattered out scenes and ideas from the inchoate work in a form between installation and performance art. Instead of dancing, the performers were locked in roles—sometimes passive, often confrontational or authoritarian—barraging audiences during a guided tour. Visitors were photographed posed like boxers and made to fill out intake forms that demanded to know their "class." It was a work that invaded your privacy while keeping its own. How will its jagged shards coalesce in a dance? We only know we're eager to find out. Purporting to be, in part, about anger, Habitus is staged in a boxing ring. Get ready to slug it out with Vector's evolving enigma. 8 p.m., $10–$15, 923 Franklin St., Durham, www.inthevector.com. —Brian Howe
