Goathouse Refuge Burrito Bash Fundraiser

When: Tue., Aug. 3, 6-9 p.m. 2010

Despite its name, the Pittsboro-based Goathouse Refuge is a sanctuary for unwanted cats. Founded by potter Siglinda Scarpa, the refuge is a nonprofit, no-kill shelter. It takes a steady stream of donations to keep such a venture going, and tonight is the sanctuary's "burrito bash," from 6–9 p.m. Burritos, salsa and chips are indeed on the menu, but the point is to throw down $100 for the reverse raffle, which promises $3,000 cash or exotic vacations for the holder of the last ticket to be drawn. There's also a silent auction. Tickets for extra meals only can be purchased for $12 in advance, $15 at the door. —David Fellerath
