Gathering Honey: Stories of Black Southern Women Who Love Women

When: Feb. 28-March 1, 8 p.m. 2014

After collecting the undocumented stories of five generations of gay African American men throughout the South in his book and recent solo show Sweet Tea, scholar, activist and ethnographer E. Patrick Johnson turned his attention to Southern African American lesbians, interviewing women who ranged in age from 18 to 75. UNC Press will publish the resulting work, Honeypot, later this year. Tonight and tomorrow, the Process Series presents a group of professional and regional actors in the first public staged reading of Johnson's stage adaptation of the book. Admission is free. —Byron Woods
