Fresh Docs Series: The Last Barn Dance and Abandoned

When: Fri., May 30, 7 p.m. 2014

In its "Fresh Docs" series, the Center for Documentary Studies shows works-in-progress by local filmmakers, who discuss them with the audience after the screenings. This installment features Ted Richardson and Jason Arthurs' The Last Barn Dance, which is about an Alamance Country dairy farmer struggling to keep the family business afloat—and with it, the tradition of local barn dances. It's paired with Philip Brubaker's Abandoned, where something the filmmaker finds in an abandoned country house initiates a search for spiritual meaning and corporate justice as well as the resolution of a mystery. —Zack Smith
