French Wine Tasting & Other Events

When: Thu., Dec. 27, Fri., Dec. 28, Sat., Dec. 29 and Sun., Dec. 30 2012

If you're looking for cool things to do with visitors during the week between Christmas and the new year, depend on Duke's Nasher Museum of Art for a fun, art-related event almost every day. It kicks off on Thursday at 6 p.m. with a free French wine tasting for ticket holders of the Collecting Matisse and Modern Masters: The Cone Sisters of Baltimore exhibition. On Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., local art instructors lead drawing lessons in the Cone Sisters show. Drawing utensils, paper and drawing boards are provided, but bring your own sketchbook. Francophiles should gather for a bilingual conversation about the show on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m.

The week wraps up Sunday, Dec. 30, at 3 p.m. as associate curator of education Jessica Ruhle leads a free book discussion of The Art of Acquiring: A Portrait of Etta and Claribel Cone by Mary Gabriel, which would make a great gift for an art lover and is available at the museum store. Museum admission is $5, and Cone Sisters show tickets are $12 for adults. Members, kids and seniors get in for less. —Chris Vitiello
