For the Love of Books & Raleigh

When: Sat., Aug. 5, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 2017

The advent of self-publishing platforms has dramatically increased the number of authors in the Triangle, an area with an already rich literary history. The people behind the book-review blog For the Love of Books & Alcohol are tapping into it with For the Love of Books & Raleigh, part of a national series of deluxe-size meet-and-greets for the ever-burgeoning population of independent and genre scribes. The featured attraction will be more than fifty authors from all over, working in areas ranging from children's books to sci-fi/fantasy, romance, memoirs, and more, who have signed on to speak and discuss their work and other aspects of the publishing experience. Some are established, while many more have just gotten their feet wet. And it's not just about gathering together a bunch of working authors but also bringing together eager high-school-age authors and those who have only contemplated writing a book, welcoming them into the fold. —David Klein
