Festival for the Eno

When: Sat., July 4, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sun., July 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 2015

Durham’s annual summer festival returns this year for two days with a solid lineup. On Saturday, the roots-focused festival presents an excellent one-two punch of gospel outfit The Branchettes and John Dee Holeman early in the day. Later in the afternoon, longtime Avett collaborator Paleface takes one stage, with Durham’s Nick Vandenberg immediately following. Vandenberg seems to most frequently exist as a sideman in acts like Bombadil and Steph Stewart & The Boyfriends, but his October record The Sweet By and By Bye-Bye is excellent. He performs again on Sunday, when the day’s lineup is even more stacked: local favorites Mandolin Orange, Bombadil, Diali Cissokho & Kaira Ba and Orquesta GarDel all perform. It’ll be hot, sure, but take heart in knowing your ticket cost goes to fund the Eno River Association. —Allison Hussey
